Baxall Construction has implementeddocument management softwareto conform to industry standards for the storage and retrieval of business correspondence.

The Kent-based construction company chose web-based Workspace from Union Square Software after an on-site demonstration at an architectural practice.

"Seeing it used in a live working environment made me realise that Workspace was right for our particular business," said Jonathan Exall, finance and marketing director at Baxall Construction.

He said that the size and quantity of critical documents in the construction industry meant that most standard document management software was unsuitable.

"Workspace's greatest advantage was that it was specifically designed for the construction industry to cater for sub-contractor tendering and performance ratings as well as managing drawing files and requests for information," said Exall.

The software also provides a simple method of archiving and retrieving all documents, including emails, through a central web-based portal that can be accessed worldwide to prevent duplication of work.
