BAE Systems outsources to India

UK defence companyBAE Systemshas signed a deal withIT outsourcingsupplier Wipro to develop a range of aerospace systems and establish two technical development centres in India.

BAE Systems' operations in the US and UK will work with Wipro Technologies operations in Hyderabad and Bangalore on the design of subsystems for aircraft engines, transport aircraft and business jets.

"We assessed a number of companies across the globe for this role, and Wipro was the most capable offered the best business model," said Mike Mendoza, BAE Systems' managing director in India.

Wipro's engineering expertise includes avionics, satellite navigation, communication systems and mechanical engineering.

A number of Wipro staff will be based with BAE Systems in the UK and US.
