There is still a "satisfaction gap" for enterprises
between the software licensing models they are being offered by
suppliers and the needs of their business.
The Fourth Annual Software Pricing and Licensing Survey Results
have just been published, and they show that software suppliers
in 2007 migrated away from more flexible offerings for their
customers, and opted for models that promised more steady revenue
streams for themselves.
Of the suppliers that did realise the need for a more flexible
pricing and licensing strategy, only 37% were motivated to make the
change in order to improve relationships with their customers.
The results were launched at this week's SoftSummit 2007 in the
US.
