Green datacentresare far from a
reality for the majority of European companies, with only 36%
saying they have plans in place to adopt green datacentre
technology.
A survey of 440 firms conducted by storage firm ONStor found
that in addition to a lack of take-up for green datacentres, more
than 58% of firms had no firm plans to adopt them.
The lack of effort in adopting green datacentre initiatives
comes despite 58% of firms revealing they had already run out of
datacentre space, power and cooling capacity in the last few
months.
Bob Miller, CEO at ONStor, said, "While the suppliers appear to
be taking this issue seriously, the overall end-user community is
some way behind."
Both IBM and Sun Microsystems have recently announced major
green data centre initiatives.
