Companies can expect a relatively quiet Patch Tuesday next week, with Microsoft only releasing one "critical" and four "important" security fixes.

The 11 September updates address a critical problem in Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, and important flaws in Windows Services for Unix, Visual Studio, Windows Sharepoint, and MSN Messenger.

A critical patch addresses a problem that can be exploited by remote hackers without any user interaction.
