Carbon emissions trader Carbon Capital Markets is using
anonline data back up servicefrom
Backup Direct to access Iron Mountain Digital's server back up and
recovery product.
The LiveVault online service from Backup Direct automatically
backs up Carbon Capital's data securely to Iron Mountain's
datacentres. The backup can be done as regularly as every 15
minutes to ensure a recent recovery point and
limit any losses.
The service will run alongside the company's tape based system
to achieve two levels of back up.
"We found the tape-based system that we were using reliable but
we wanted to have a two-level back up policy of using a tape system
and an offsite system to safeguard our vital company information,"
said Mark Flitter, IT manager at Carbon Capital Markets.
Carbon Capital Markets provides carbon related financial
products and services to companies affected by the
EU Emissions Trading scheme. As a company regulated by the
Financial Services Authority it must meet the industry regulator's
data retention policies.
"As a company that has users working from various international
time zones, our data is constantly being updated. We needed the
additional ability to back up data outside of the scheduled times
of a standard back up policy. The service available with Backup
Direct Iron Mountain has enabled us to achieve this," said
Flitter.
