Cisco has announced its next generation datacentre strategy to help improve firms' business continuity, deliver cost-effective storage area networks and enhance data security.

The Data Center 3.0 strategy encompasses server virtualisation, shared storage and network resources, and application optimisation.

John Chambers, Cisco CEO, said, "Because the network is uniquely positioned within the datacentre, we are investing in innovations we believe will help our customers to transform their data centres to achieve improved efficiency and increased business productivity."

Over the next 24 months, said Cisco, the supplier will deliver new products, programmes and capabilities to help customers move towards Data Center 3.0.
