Oracle has released
11g, the latest version of its relational database, with new
features designed to ease administration and testing processes and
improve reliability.
The product aims to tackle the fast pace of software
development. Oracle senior vice-president Andy Mendelsohn said,
"Our customers are facing the challenges of rapid data growth,
increased integration, and connectivity IT cost pressures."
Ronan Miles, chairman of the
UK Oracle User Group, welcomed
the new features, but was concerned that Oracle now allows users to
run production applications on the back-up Oracle 11g database,
which could affect a company's business continuity strategy.
