Dell pressured to provide Linux PCs

Dell is so far being pressured by 30,000 users to offer Linux-based PCs outside the US.
In late May, Dell started selling three PC models in the US loaded with the Ubuntu Linux distribution.
The decision to sell PCs with pre-loaded Linux came after pressure to do so on the Dell IdeaStorm website, the Dell user forum.
IdeaStorm now contains several motions calling for the firm to offer similar products outside the US.
The current top motion, entitled "Sell Linux PCs Worldwide - not only in the United States", had attracted 26,930 votes at the time of writing.
Another motion, "Dell Ubuntu for Europe", is calling for the same thing, and has so far attracted 12,380 votes.
Dell has confirmed it plans to do what the motions are demanding but has refused to be drawn into any firm timescales.
