npower will deploy an Oracle content management system (CMS) to offer customers online billing, meter reading alerts and news about their latest deals.

Using technology supplied from Oracle’s Stellent, the system will manage over 30 of the company’s websites and is designed to quicken the publication and maintenance of over 12,000 digital assets.

The energy provider wanted to deliver a broader range of services to customers through its website, but recognised that its old system could not manage growing complexities. Reducing the time to market of new applications was also a driver for installing the CMS.

“The energy and utilities industry is a very competitive marketplace and we have developed an enterprise content management system that supports our company strategy,” said Patricia Gildea, e-delivery manager for npower.
