Oracle has furthered its support for Linux users with a
new range of free management tools.
The Oracle Management Pack for Linux is designed for Oracle Unbreakable Linux
users, the Linux support initiative the firm launched at the end of
last year.
Based on Oracle's management solution - Oracle Enterprise
Manager 10g - the Oracle Management Pack for Linux provides Oracle
Unbreakable Linux support programme users with Linux server
lifecycle management, helping to reduce the complexity and cost of
managing their Linux OS environments, said Oracle.
"Today's announcement reinforces our commitment to deliver
better Linux support and manageability at lower prices," said Wim
Coekaerts, Oracle vice president of Linux engineering. "The Oracle
Unbreakable Linux support programme now features the industry's
most comprehensive Linux management solution, at no additional cost
to users.”
Oracle Unbreakable Linux is a support programme that is designed
to be cheaper than the support offered by established Linux players
like Red Hat.
When Oracle launched the programme Red Hat claimed it wasn’t as
comprehensive as the support programme it already offered to its
customers.
The Oracle Management Pack for Linux now offers Oracle
Unbreakable Linux users extra integrated and centralised tools for
provisioning, patching, monitoring, and administering Linux
servers.
The Oracle Management Pack for Linux for Oracle Unbreakable
Linux is now available and can be downloaded from the Oracle
Technology Network at:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/index2.html.
The pack is included with the Oracle Unbreakable Linux support
programme (Basic and Premier service levels) at no additional
charge.
