Apple Computer has issued a patch to fix over 20
security vulnerabilities in its Mac OS X operating system,
including a major Wi-Fi threat.
Apple's Security Update 2006-007 includes fixes for
vulnerabilities in Apple's own code as well as for third-party
components that ship with it, including Perl, PHP and OpenSSL
software.
Apple says several of the flaws could allow remote attackers to
take over users’ systems.
The Wi-Fi threat centres around the AirPort driver software that
shipped with Apple's original AirPort Wi-Fi card. A nearby computer
could take control of a vulnerable system by sending it a malicious
network packet.
The Apple patch, however, does not address a vulnerability
reported earlier this week by security software firm Secunia.
This bug also allows attackers to take over users’ systems.
