PepsiCo has signed a seven-year multi-million dollar
global network services contract with BT to improve data security
and the performance of its networks.
Under the contract, the total value of which has not been
disclosed, BT will provide and manage an integrated portfolio of
data, LAN, security, conferencing, remote access, and internet
services, to support the IT requirements for the PepsiCo
International division of PepsiCo.
BT will manage PepsiCo International’s local and wide area
network infrastructure across more than 900 locations in more than
60 countries, including the UK.
In addition, BT will migrate these services to a
state-of-the-art, high-speed, IP-based global MPLS (multi-protocol
label switching) infrastructure. MPLS allows companies to make sure
that the right data gets to the right people in the quickest
time.
PepsiCo said it expects to cut operating costs as a result of
the contract and that it will future-proof its networks, as well as
delivering enhanced service levels to users.
PepsiCo has also signed a global IT services contract with BT’s
strategic partner HP, to enable PepsiCo to consolidate its
technology infrastructure from a distributed server environment
into three global HP data centres.
