HSBC has awarded telco Thus a five-year contract worth
over £50m to roll out a next-generation network for its UK
operation.
Thus has been given “preferred supplier” status on the job,
which will see it replace the bank’s legacy UK domestic national
network.
The contract sees HSBC adopting a multimedia capable
next-generation network that will support operations at more than
2,200 HSBC sites.
Tim Cureton, HSBC group head of telecommunications, said, “Thus
technically is the right company to support us in the UK at
significant cost benefit, with solutions enabling us to move
forward and deliver a variety of IP enhanced services for our
customers.”
William Allan, Thus chief executive, said, “This contract
represents the capabilities of our managed solutions division, one
of the three key areas of our business.”
HSBC recently launched a new mobile banking platform for
customers, and also issued its business customers with security
tokens to improve their on-line security.
The bank has also recently adopted improved fraud detection
capabilities.
