Microsoft has restructured the support programme for its
older products to provide better back-up to users migrating to new
versions.
The software giant said the overhaul of its support for legacy
products was the result of six months’ evaluation and feedback from
users.
The new Custom Support Agreement offers users an option to
extend coverage for their legacy systems while they are in the
process of migration.
A new pricing structure has been introduced so businesses pay
for support only for those machines running older Microsoft
products, rather than a flat rate charge.
The overhaul is designed to offer more control over the speed
and timing of migrations, so users can make migration decisions in
line with their business and financial requirements.
The revised support package includes problem resolution for
legacy products, security hotfixes for bugs rated critical or
important and access to a database of security and non-security
hotfixes produced earlier in the product’s life.
