IBM has launched an entry-level storage product for
SMEs.
The System Storage DS4200 Express solution is aimed at firms
employing from 100 to 1,000 staff.
The new solution offers many of the features which already come
with IBM’s DS4800 platform, which is aimed at larger companies. But
the DS4200 comes with less capacity and does not offer the same
performance.
The new product supports remote mirroring, enabling the remote
back-up of data at another location, as well as standard back-up
facilities.
IBM is aiming the DS4200 Express solution at similar offerings
currently sold by the likes of EMC and HP.
The DS4200 stores data on 500MB Serial ATA drives. The system
will be available from the end of this month with an entry level
price of around £6,300.
