CA has named Alan Nugent as its new chief technology
officer, as the firm struggles to return to
profitability.
Nugent, 51, succeeds Mark Barrenechea, who recently announced he
was leaving to join a venture capital firm.
Nugent has previously served as senior vice president and
general manager of CA’s enterprise systems management business
unit.
Before joining CA last year, he held senior technology posts at
Novell, BellSouth and Xerox.
CA has suffered five straight years of losses, and it recently
said it would have to delay posting its financial results, after
discovering a sales commission glitch would mean a loss instead of
a profit for its latest figures.
