Google has developed a tool that allows Firefox browser
users to synchronise the settings of their browsers across multiple
computers.
The tool is expected to make the open source Firefox browser a
more attractive alternative to the still dominant Internet Explorer
from Microsoft.
Google Browser Sync can maintain the same bookmarks, website
visits logs, saved passwords and cookies in all Firefox
installations chosen.
To enable continuous synchronisation to happen, users have to
install copies of Google Browser Sync on every Firefox-enabled
computer.
Google Browser Sync works with Firefox version 1.5 and above.
The tool doesn’t support rival browsers, and further illustrates
Google’s continued support for Firefox.
Google includes Firefox in its Google Pack - a free,
downloadable software suite that it distributes.
Firefox has around 10% of the browser market and Microsoft has
about 85%.
