Microsoft will issue its scheduled monthly patch this
week, aimed at solving a critical security issue for the Office
suite, as well as releasing an updated version of the Microsoft
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.
The Office security update will involve patches that are likely
to require restarting users’ systems, Microsoft said. They will be
detectable with Microsoft’s Baseline Security Analyser and the
Enterprise Scanning Tool. The updates coming with the bulletin on
Windows will not require a restart, according to the advisory. They
will be detectable with the Microsoft Baseline Security
Analyser.
Microsoft will distribute its updated version of the Windows
Malicious Software Removal Tool via Windows Update, Microsoft
Update, Windows Server Update Services and the Download Centre.

with Microsoft promising a webcast this week to address users’
queries on the updates.
A quiet week on the Microsoft security front for once, probably
because the company is gearing itself towards a series of
forthcoming launches, notably Vista with all its inherent security
features.
