CeBIT saw the world’s fastest PC being demonstrated to
attendees, with clock speeds of up to 5.46GHz.
The Dream Machine PC was the result of a collaboration between
Asetek, Kingston Technology and Western Digital, the fourth time
the partners had built such a platform for CeBIT.
Last year, the three companies demonstrated a PC that could run
to 5GHz, so the jump in a year hasn’t been that great.
The 2006 model was built around a souped-up Intel 3.8GHz CPU,
with an advanced cooling system to allow the system to take the
heat generated by such high processing speeds.
The Dream Machine includes Asetek’s Vapochill LightSpeed CPU
cooling, and WaterChill graphics card and motherboard chipset
cooling.
It also includes Kingston’s HyperX Ram system, and Western
Digital’s Raptor X 150 GB hard drive.
