At its annual Virtualisation Forum, IDS has predicted
huge demand for IT virtualisation products and
services.
The market analyst firm predicts that the IT virtualisation
market will increase to nearly £8.5bn worldwide by 2009, and
believes that virtualisation techniques will extend beyond its
current home in the server environment.
The forum was designed to show senior IT managers how to
effectively exploit computer resources in a virtual manner. The
Forum presented IDC's view of the many forms of virtualisation and
how the effective use of this technology can help IT and business
executives address the need to cut costs, support an ever changing
dynamic environment, and make more optimal use of their IT
resources.
IDC strongly believes that virtualisation can dramatically
change the way corporate computing is done and affect a company's
ability to achieve the goals of improved performance, scalability,
reliability, and availability.
