Oracle has
launched the Oracle SOA Suite, a standards-based set of middleware
products used to build, deploy and manage Service-Oriented
Architectures (SOA).
The suite's
hot-pluggable capabilities, says Oracle, will enable customers to
take advantage of a variety of benefits that SOAs provide, while
leveraging current middleware technologies.
Using the Suite,
you can connect, extend and evolve existing IT systems to deliver
new business services. Built on a hot-pluggable architecture,
Oracle claims that the Suite allows you to SOA-enable your existing
IT environment without requiring a costly rip and replace
project.
The Oracle SOA
Suite consists of a Business Process Execution Language (BPEL)
engine for Web services orchestration that allows you to design,
define and execute business processes; Oracle Enterprise Service
Bus, a standards-based product that connects existing IT systems
and business partners as a set of services; Oracle Web Services
Manager for defining and enforcing Web services policies; Oracle
Business Rules Engine, to define and manage business rules; Oracle
Business Activity Monitoring, to deliver real-time insight into
business operations; Oracle Enterprise Manager to deploy and manage
service-oriented applications in an operational environment; Oracle
JDeveloper 10g, an integrated development environment for creating
and composing applications that also acts as a unified toolset for
all components in the Oracle SOA Suite.
The Oracle SOA
Suite is interoperable and supports Oracle and non-Oracle
application servers and messaging buses, including IBM WebSphere,
BEA WebLogic and JBoss Application Servers. It also provides a
broad variety of connectors to access legacy systems such as CICS,
VSAM, and IMS and packaged applications including SAP, PeopleSoft,
Oracle e-Business Suite, and Siebel via Web services.
