Software firm Vanatec has launched an object-relational
mapping tool that is compatible with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
and SQL Server 2005.
Vanatec said .net developers could use Openaccess 4.0 to
simplify data access and data management in their applications. The
product offers a reverse mapping wizard designed to detect existing
legacy data models and create respective object models, which can
then be edited.
By using Openaccess, developers can save at least 30% of
application code, freeing them to focus on building the application
instead of data access issues, said Vanatec.
An object container - which separates objects (data and methods)
from the database for transactions - provides platform independent
and database-independent transport of objects.
A development licence costs £600 and includes the first year of
updates and e-mail support. As an introductory offer, Vanatec has
tied up with Microsoft to bundle Openaccess with Visual Studio 2005
Professional Edition. Purchasing the bundle with Visual Studio 2005
Team Suite, developers get the object-relational mapping tool free,
the company said.
