Open-source advocate JBoss is working with Microsoft to
enhance interoperability between its open JBoss Enterprise
Middleware System and Microsoft’s Windows Server.
JBoss wants to improve its users’ experience in a shared Windows
environment and Microsoft wants to increase the number of Windows
users as a result.
The two companies said they would concentrate on four areas of
interoperability between the two platforms: Microsoft’s Active
Directory and SQL Server, web services and management.
Federated identity management using the two firms’ solutions is
expected to be one of the first benefits to users from the
initiative.
Federated ID management allows access to different web services
and applications with a single sign-on.
