HP is collaborating with Oracle to allow their
respective systems management software to work closely together so
that users can detect system problems more easily.
The “Optimise for Agility” effort will see the different
management software platforms exchange information about events and
equipment status, allowing system administrators to exercise better
control over their networks and business processes.
The partnership also aims to give users a better chance of
maintaining guaranteed service levels for various tasks.
The closer integration between products covers HP's OpenView
management software and Oracle's 10g database and Enterprise
Manager software.
Speaking at the Oracle OpenWorld user conference in San
Francisco this week, HP chief executive officer Mark Hurd said the
initiative would “allow companies to identify, allocate and
re-allocate resources across servers, storage systems and networks,
without impacting on user productivity”.
The two companies already have around 90,000 joint
customers.
