A juvenile from the US state of Massachusetts has been
jailed for his part in the hacking attack which led to the mobile
phone address book of socialite Paris Hilton being posted on the
internet.
The attack in January on the US T-Mobile network led to the
contact details of the likes of rapper Eminem and tennis player
Anna Kournikova being made public.
The juvenile, who has not been named because of his age, was
jailed for 11 months and given a two year supervision order when he
is released. The sentence also covers charges related to other
offences, including bomb threats made to schools in Massachusetts
and Florida.
The hack into Hilton’s address book was achieved by fooling
T-Mobile staff to reveal sensitive information about the account
and weaknesses in the design of the T-Mobile website.
Police said the investigation was ongoing as the juvenile was
part of a group of hackers operating under the name of the Defonic
Team Screen Name Club.
They said further arrests were expected.
