UK Broadband has announced the expansion of IPWireless’s
UMTS TD-CDMA wireless broadband service from Thames Valley into
parts of London.
The service, formerly known as Netvigator, has been rebranded as
“now” and has a revised pricing structure. The brand name is
already in use in Hong Kong, where the UK Broadband's parent
company, the Asian telecoms giant PCCW, operates now Broadband
TV.
UK Broadband said its Thames Valley wireless service had
captured “a significant proportion of the local broadband growth
and a healthy share of the area's total broadband market”, within
eight months of its launch last year.
But the company says it will continue to take a “prudent
approach” to expansion, with a phased roll-out programme.
PCCW acquired the licences allowing it to operate a wireless
broadband service across the country in 2003.
