Travel company Sabre is replacing its more expensive
electronic data interchange system with a web-based solution using
tools from SeeBeyond.
The EDI system is currently used for connecting to airlines,
hotels and other suppliers, but Sabre wants to save on connectivity
charges and build more flexibility into its systems by adopting web
services.
The company’s various subsidiaries, which include
Travelocity.com, are ditching the 15-year-old EDI system by
building a web services solution using Integrated Composite
Application Network (ICAN) tools from SeeBeyond.
Sabre is currently conducting a pilot project by connecting to
selected suppliers using the new system.
SeeBeyond is being acquired by Sun Microsystems.
