Oracle has added a Portfolio Analysis module to a new release of
its Projects suite of applications.
The database giant hopes the addition will attract new buyers as
well as more than 3,000 existing Oracle Projects customers.
The module is pitched at businesses organised in a
project-focused way and aims to help them ensure their projects are
aligned with the company’s strategic aims.
Project managers can plan and control portfolios of projects,
viewing them through a common filter to see which offer the best
fit with the organisation’s goals, the funding available, return on
investment targets and other criteria.
The tool offers “what if” scenarios, to assess the impact on
funding of various portfolio mixes.
The new release of Oracle Projects also allows managers to
review and update project completion estimates based on data
automatically generated from work and resource plans, actual work
completed, progress targets, other commitments and change
orders.
