British American Tobacco has appointed Computacenter as
its sole desktop managed services provider in the UK.
The three-year managed contract replaces two separate supplier
agreements, and is expected to help BAT make significant savings on
its IT service delivery costs. Under the agreement Computacenter
will provide a range of services to help manage BAT's 3,500-plus UK
desktops and laptops, and its file and print servers.
Computacenter's contract includes technology sourcing,
maintenance, installations and user support from a centralised
service desk.
By working with a single service partner, BAT aims to deploy
standard processes and technologies across the UK, enabling
consistency of service, efficiency improvements and financial
gains.
Phil Cook, BAT chief information officer, said, "This project is
another important step for our UK organisations in achieving
alignment with key global strategies and improving
productivity.
The UK contract will expand Computacenter's existing work with
BAT, which includes managing the company's desktop and server
infrastructure throughout the UK and Europe.
