Leading Linux software provider Red Hat has reported a
46% increase in year-on-year group sales for the first quarter
ending May, and a 63% increase in enterprise subscription
revenue.
Total sales were $60.8m (£32m) and enterprise subscription sales
were $48.7m. Net profit was $12.4m, which represented a more modest
5% rise.
During the quarter Red Hat launched Red Hat Directory Server to
provide an open source identity management solution for
enterprises.
Red Hat also recently announced it would be rolling out Linux
e-learning programmes to secondary schools in the UK as part of its
strategy to popularise the use of open source software to young
computer users.
