Red Hat has rolled out its Red Hat Academy programme in
Europe to deliver a Linux curriculum to secondary schools and help
further popularise open source software.
The new programme is in addition to the company's existing Red
Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) and Red Hat Certified Engineer
(RHCE) exams, which are available worldwide.
“Red Hat created Red Hat Academy as a way to partner with
academic institutions to bring Linux and open source skills to an
ever increasing number of students,” said Jasmine Huxtable-Wright,
director of global learning services for Red Hat Europe.
“Expansion into Europe ensures that more and more students will
be equipped to enter the workforce with requisite Linux skills and
hands-on experience with open source software,” she said.
The Red Hat Academy programme is taught by a certified computer
instructor using Red Hat’s web-delivered, performance-based
curriculum.
Four courses, ranging from Linux Essentials to Enterprise
Security Administration, will be available this autumn. The
curriculum content also prepares those students who wish to pursue
the existing Red Hat certification exams.
The Academy programme is adapted to fit the needs of traditional
academic institutions with longer course delivery times than the
typical five-day IT training offered by Red Hat.
