IBM has launched Informix Dynamic Server Express version
10, an embeddable database designed to help SMEs meet their growing
information management demands.
“Application providers that serve SMEs are looking to gain a
competitive edge by building an on-demand information
infrastructure that helps their clients anticipate and respond to
changing business requirements,” said Bernie Spang, director of IBM
information management.
“Informix Express provides the foundation for these
organisations to expand their information management capabilities
and also allows them to free up skilled resources and focus on
next-generation business applications.”
With the ability to upgrade to a “more robust database
solution”, Informix Express is ideal for smaller businesses that
need room to grow their IT infrastructure in the future, according
to IBM.
Informix Express v10 comes with automated installation and
deployment, which takes place without affecting a customer’s
existing infrastructure.
There is also autonomic self-maintenance, self-monitoring and
self-configuring capabilities that reduce complexity and the level
of skills and resources required to manage the database.
The database can be run on Unix, Windows or Linux. Informix
Dynamic Server Express v10 costs from £67 per user.
