Dell has reported big increases in sales and operating
profits for the first quarter and has reported a 21% increase in
sales outside the US.
Sales outside the US now account for 42% of the company’s
turnover.
For the year, Dell saw total group sales rise 16% to $13.4bn
(£7.24bn). Operating profits rose 22% to $1.174bn "Our greatest
strength in the quarter was precisely in the products, services and
regions in which we're most focused on growing," said Kevin
Rollins, Dell's chief executive officer. "Customers worldwide are
increasingly relying on us for their diversified
information-technology requirements," he said.
Overall company shipments in Europe increased 26%. Sales of Dell
storage systems in the region increased more than 60% compared to
the previous first quarter, and turnover from software and
peripherals rose 37%.
Overall revenue from mobility products increased 20%, as
shipments of notebook computers rose 39%. Regional server shipments
were up 23%, more than twice the average of other companies, said
Dell.
