Oracle and PeopleSoft/JD Edwards users are to host a
joint conference following Oracle’s acquisition of
PeopleSoft.
The Oracle Applications User Group (OAUG) and the Quest
International Users Group, an independent association serving
PeopleSoft and JD Edwards users, have announced that the OAUG
Connection Point 2005 user conference and the Quest Conference
& Expo 2005 will be held together this June.
The joint conference, held at the Gaylord Texan hotel and
convention centre, from 13 to 16 June in Grapevine, Texas, is the
result of an alliance formed by the pair last month.
The decision to run a joint user convention comes with
encouragement from Oracle, which is keen to see closer user and
developer involvement from both sides of its expanded operation,
particularly as it intends eventually to merge some of the product
lines.
"The upcoming conferences are the first major joint effort
between OAUG and Quest and are a great way to build a bridge
between our organisations and provide additional benefits to our
memberships," said Patricia Dues, OAUG president.
"It is also a great way to create new links between the
OAUG/Quest alliance and Oracle, which has encouraged user groups to
work closely together."
Fred Pond, president of the Quest International Users Group,
said, "These initiatives expose our members to new ideas and
creative ways of doing business that can benefit both the members
as well as their employers."
The Quest International Users Group focuses on the PeopleSoft
World and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne user community. OAUG represents
more than 2,000 member companies worldwide.
