Tata posts 54% increase in profits

Indian outsourcing company Tata Consultancy Services has posted a 54% increase in profits for the third quarter.

The £86m profit came from a 38% increase in sales of £315m. Tata reported that new orders came from 72 customers, and that 15 of them represented sales of more than £555,000 a year.

One new customer is Italian sports-car manufacturer Ferrari, with Tata performing "core engine-design services".

The company now has over 500 active customers. Most of the work Tata carries out is done at customer premises, with around 40% carried out offshore in locations such as India.
