BEA Systems has acquired Incomit, a privately held
Swedish company which provides infrastructure software for the
telecommunications industry.
BEA said the acquisition will be used to enhance BEA’s position
in the telco industry, by providing key technologies to improve the
BEA WebLogic Service Delivery Platform, BEA’s telecommunications
solution framework.
BEA said all of the Global 50 telco operators run portions of
their OSS (Operational Support Systems) business on BEA software.
In 2004, more than 24% of BEA’s revenues were derived from
telecommunications customers.
"BEA’s acquisition of Incomit is part of our strategy of helping
our telco customers successfully transform their businesses to meet
the new demands of the industry," said Olivier Helleboid, BEA
executive vice-president of corporate strategy and development.
"The addition of Incomit’s technology is important to helping
expand the BEA WebLogic Service Delivery Platform and to help give
our customers a competitive edge in the emerging telco
marketplace," he said.
The price BEA has paid for Incomit has not been revealed.
Incomit is BEA’s fifth acquisition in the past two years.
