Business intelligence software maker Information
Builders is trying to spread reporting to the masses.
It introduced WebFocus Quick Query, an ad hoc reporting tool for
business users without specialist IT training this week.
Information Builders will offer the tool on an unlimited user
basis, as opposed to using a named user licence, which it used to
do for its ad hoc report software.
With simple drag-and-drop tools, end users can create reports in
a variety of formats, including HTML, Excel 2000 and PDF. The user
can also customise the look of the reports and add things such as
corporate logos. The finished reports can then be broadcast via
printers, e-mail and fax.
