Alcatel has announced enhancements to its OmniVista
network management product, including the ability for network
managers to configure and troubleshoot a network with the click of
a button.
The OneTouch enhancement to OmniVista works with the Alcatel
operating system to help reduce the time needed for repetitious
network administration tasks.
The features are designed to enhance secure access with OneTouch
control for switch administration policies.
A resource manager tool provides backup and restore capabilities
for software images and configuration files. A trap responder tool
automatically notifies IT personnel of network problems and
triggers automatic actions to address problems. The locator feature
allows network managers to find hostile network elements and can
find network-attached hosts from third-party suppliers.
OmniVista has already begun shipping and prices start at $3,995
per licence, plus an additional $1,000 per licence for Secure
Access.
FineGround Networks also announced an appliance to deliver its
Performance Suite software for boosting web application
performance.
The Velocity appliance will boost e-mail and collaboration web
application performance to branch offices connected by wide-area
networks by up to 300%.
