Intel has provided sharper expectations for
third-quarter revenue.
The company now expects third-quarter revenue to fall between
$7.6bn and $7.8bn up from expectations of $6.9bn to $7.5bn when it
announced second-quarter results on 22 August. Intel's third
quarter ends on 27 September.
Third-quarter demand for PC and server processors remains
strong, but demand for communications products is still weak, Intel
said.
The forecasted $7.7bn represents an 18% increase over Intel's
third-quarter 2002 revenue of $6.5bn.
IDC agreed with Intel's assessment, raising its forecast for PC
shipment growth to 8.4% for the remainder of the year.
Gartner has also recently increased its expectations for
worldwide growth in PC shipments.
