A programme to work with business partners to develop a complete
software offering has been unveiled by Hewlett-Packard.
The business partner programme is aimed at resellers, systems
integrators, consultants, service providers, OEMs, management
service providers and ISVs to deliver systems built on and managed
by its Netaction and OpenView software products.
The programme expands on the existing OpenView authorised partner
programme and is targeted at partners that offer systems around IT
and Internet management, security, middleware, Internet
applications and business process software which can be implemented
on HP or non-HP hardware platforms.
Speaking at the unveiling of the plan, GartnerGroup research
director Milind Govekar said companies would have to rely on tight
integration in the future because it would help with their
cross-selling. But he warned it would also speed up the collapse of
weaker companies.
He predicted that 80 per cent of purchases would be made through
software service providers by 2010. "But 80 per cent of B2B or B2C
is currently being conducted through a non-integrated procedure
which relies on the batch file system. This is slow, prone to
delays and has room for error."
He claimed that what was needed was a business processing system
that would require data movement, data transformation and process
management technology - all of which are found in Netaction,
according to HP.
