Ease of use is proving a major barrier to users buying 3G handsets, a new survey from YouGov has found.
According to the poll of 2,000 people, commissioned by customer self-service specialist Netonomy, 79% of respondents believe mobile phone services are getting more complicated to understand and configure, compared with 71% of respondents in a similar survey carried out in January 2005.
Also, 73% of the early adopters who already own 3G phones rarely use the 3G services available to them. Indeed, 28% never use them at all.
Of those who did not already own a 3G phone, just 47% were confident they would find 3G phones and services easy to use.
