Broadcom and partner BVRP Software are making it easier for users to use wirelessly surf the internet with their mobile phones using Bluetooth technology.

Their combined Bluetooth software product allows customers to connect to the internet, send short message service (SMS) messages, or transfer pictures, video, calendar items and contact lists to and from their PCs and mobile phones using single mouse clicks and no cabling.

The new software package, available from Broadcom technology distributors, such as Belkin and laptop supplier Acer, will streamline the process for configuring and managing wireless personal area networks (PANs).

The system relies on a graphical user interface (GUI) residing on the PC which can easily connect to a mobile phone and use it as a modem to complete on-line tasks.
