IT workers from all over the US were affected by the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington last Tuesday, killing thousands of people.

Among those onboard the hijacked aircraft that crashed into the World Trade Center in New York last Tuesday were staff from technology companies Akamai Technologies, Metrocall, MRV Communications, Netegrity, Oracle, eLogic, Cisco Systems, Raytheon, Sun Microsystems, NextWave Telecom, BEA Systems and 3Com.

Onboard American Airlines flight 11 were staff from an Internet start-up company, a retired employee of Lucent Technology, Akamai Technologies' co-founder and chief technical officer Daniel Lewin, and four staff from Raytheon.

Among those on board United Airlines flight 175, were a software manager and the German chairman of BCT Technology.
