MP's Facebook account hacked

Rebecca Thomson

An MP was "devastated" after his Facebook account was hacked and rogue messages sent to over 1,500 of his friends on the site.

Michael Fabricant, MP for Lichfield, clicked on a message saying "Look at this" that took him to a page containing malware.

The message was then sent to all his friends, and Facebook blocked his account.

He said, "I am devastated. This has never happened to me before and I can only apologise."

He changed his password and emailed Facebook after the hacking, which happened last week. His account was back up and running today.
