Highways Agency outsources to Atos

Karl Flinders

The Highways Agency has outsourced the management of IT to Atos Origin with a £75m, five-year contract to save at least 15% of its IT budget.

Atos Origin will provide a service desk and maintenance of IT facilities used by 2,500 employees as well as ongoing management of software applications.

Chris Price, service review manager at the Highways Agency, said as a public sector organisation, it is essential that the Highways Agency makes the best use of public funds. "Following a thorough procurement and evaluation process, Atos Origin demonstrated the capability to deliver improved services - and service levels - to staff, along with demonstrable efficiencies resulting from technological innovations."

More than 120 staff and contractors will transfer to the outsourcer.
