IBM has made available a free a plug-in that integrates its WebSphere Information Integrator OmniFind Edition corporate search system with Google’s enterprise desktop search tool.

When using the free Google search system, users will not only be able to quickly search for information on corporate databases, content management systems and the web, but also on their desktops.

Google Desktop for Enterprise can index and search for information in e-mail, files, previously viewed web pages and instant messages.

The enterprise Google product is similar to a consumer version, but it includes management and security features for helping IT departments to safely configure the software across their companies.
