Autonomy upgrades mobile data search

Antony Savvas

Enterprise software provider Autonomy has upgraded its IDOL Mobile system to make it easier for corporate users to search and access corporate information from handheld devices.

It has also extended the number of file formats supported by IDOL Mobile to over 300.

In addition, for mobile operators that use the system to deliver relevant information to their subscribers, Autonomy has developed a system to allow them to send targeted shopping and advertising suggestions to individual handsets.

“Mobile search is a hard problem to solve,” said Sue Feldman, an analyst at IDC.

“With small screens and limited interactivity, mobile users don’t want extraneous information delivered to them. There is no doubt that targeted messages and personalised search will drive new revenue for mobile e-tailers,” she said.

IDOL Mobile makes it easier for the most appropriate content to be sent to mobile users by analysing their data usage and behaviour on the network.
