Network Appliance buys Decru

Antony Savvas

Storage solutions company Network Appliance is buying data security specialist Decru for around $272m (£147m).

Decru makes security appliances to protect both network-attached storage (NAS) systems and storage area networks (Sans). Network Appliance is a leading supplier for NAS systems.

Decru also provides devices to allow users to comply with data retention and privacy rules.

The acquisition sees Network Appliance continue to expand its product line. Earlier this year the company agreed to buy Alacritus, a supplier of back-up disk emulation software.

Network Appliance said the latest acquisition would boost its security offering to users, particularly in the field of data encryption.
