EMC is extending its Centera family of content storage systems to address the growing archiving needs of mid-size enterprises.
The EMC Centera four-node configuration delivers the same content and management features in other Centera configurations, but at a price aimed at mid-size operations.
The new option is equipped with the newly launched Centera operating system and has the capability to be rack-mounted in EMC or other industry-standard racks, to reduce costs and save floor space.
Tom Heiser, EMC Centera Division senior vice president and general manager, said, “Mid-size enterprises have been asking EMC for a solution to cost-effectively archive fixed content, such as e-mail and important business records, in a way that meets their requirements.
“With this new configuration we can now make managing and archiving fixed content more affordable and simpler than ever.”
The Centera four-node configuration will be available later this month. It will offer 2.2TB (terabytes) of usable capacity at a price 35% lower than previous entry level options, said EMC.
